Narrative:
We were at cruise and encountered some pressurization problems due to an engine bleed problem. We started a descent, then we were able to obtain control of cabin pressure. We leveled off at 38400'. We then got clearance from ny commercila radio to descend to FL370. The rest of the trip was uneventful. More effective communications would provide the traveling public with an added margin of safety. A high priority item in my estimation.
