Narrative:
Aircraft X was holding in position awaiting departure on runway 34L. Ground controller requested and received approval to cross aircraft Z and Y on runway 34L at taxiway B. The aircraft holding on the runway was cleared for takeoff prior to aircraft Y crossing the runway, being clear of the runway. The departing aircraft aborted takeoff roll, was instructed to taxi off the runway and back to the approach end. Training was in progress on the position. The instrument and trnee were not diligent enough in their runway scan prior to issuing takeoff clearance. Crossing request by the ground controller was not timely.

Title: RWY INCURSION AND LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION AS SMT WAS CLEARED TO CROSS ACTIVE RWY WITH COMMUTER CLEARED FOR TKOF. COMMUTER X ABORTED TKOF. OPERATIONAL ERROR.
Narrative: ACFT X WAS HOLDING IN POS AWAITING DEP ON RWY 34L. GND CTLR REQUESTED AND RECEIVED APPROVAL TO CROSS ACFT Z AND Y ON RWY 34L AT TXWY B. THE ACFT HOLDING ON THE RWY WAS CLRED FOR TKOF PRIOR TO ACFT Y XING THE RWY, BEING CLR OF THE RWY. THE DEPARTING ACFT ABORTED TKOF ROLL, WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAXI OFF THE RWY AND BACK TO THE APCH END. TRNING WAS IN PROGRESS ON THE POS. THE INSTR AND TRNEE WERE NOT DILIGENT ENOUGH IN THEIR RWY SCAN PRIOR TO ISSUING TKOF CLRNC. XING REQUEST BY THE GND CTLR WAS NOT TIMELY.
