Narrative:

While departing runway 24 at teb caution lights illuminated that caused a distraction whereby the pilot flying deviated from [SID] altitude by about 500 ft or so. Once this was realized; the pilot immediately corrected the deviation and descended back to the appropriate altitude. There was no alarm on behalf of ATC other than a request to 'ident'. The pilot flying conferred with the pilot non-flying on the hazards of distractions; and better CRM will be implemented in the future.
