Narrative:
The event consisted of a gear up landing at the 307 on 3/89. The WX was clear with winds light and variable. The aircraft was an small aircraft. I normally actuate the gear when I turn downwind, however this time I actuated the flaps and became preoccupied with locating other traffic in the pattern. Thinking I had the gear down, I neglected to check the gear indicator on final. Contributing factors: I was wearing a headset and did not hear the gear warning horn. Human performance: there is no forgiveness for failure to complete the landing check.

Title: GA SMA GEAR UP LNDG AT NON TWR ARPT.
Narrative: THE EVENT CONSISTED OF A GEAR UP LNDG AT THE 307 ON 3/89. THE WX WAS CLR WITH WINDS LIGHT AND VARIABLE. THE ACFT WAS AN SMA. I NORMALLY ACTUATE THE GEAR WHEN I TURN DOWNWIND, HOWEVER THIS TIME I ACTUATED THE FLAPS AND BECAME PREOCCUPIED WITH LOCATING OTHER TFC IN THE PATTERN. THINKING I HAD THE GEAR DOWN, I NEGLECTED TO CHECK THE GEAR INDICATOR ON FINAL. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: I WAS WEARING A HEADSET AND DID NOT HEAR THE GEAR WARNING HORN. HUMAN PERFORMANCE: THERE IS NO FORGIVENESS FOR FAILURE TO COMPLETE THE LNDG CHK.
