Narrative:
Ten minutes after passing topps; flying direct to oystr in level flight; FL390; M.80; clear of clouds; encountered wake turbulence. Preceding A330 was 10 miles ahead; slightly left of our track proceeding to steam; FL390. Wind was approximately 65 knots; left quartering tailwind. Incurred approximately 2-3 seconds of light turbulence then aircraft started rolling hard left. Just prior to receiving 'bank angle; bank angle' alert; disconnected autopilot and manually rolled back wings level. Aircraft bank exceeded 45 degrees but unsure of actual bank angle. (No horizon reference available). No loss of altitude and no damage to aircraft. No injuries to crew or passengers. No further encounters.
