Narrative:
While direct to smo VOR 7000' down to 5000' on lax approach frequency 124.5, at approximately 5200' I observed an small aircraft at our 3 O'clock position coalt at approximately 200' in a 10 to 15 degree left turn. The aircraft passed within 100' to our rear and we lost contact with that aircraft. I immediately contacted ATC lax approach channel 124.5, informed them and their reply was 'negative traffic in that area.' out flight continued uneventfully.
