Narrative:
Just prior to pushback the senior F/a advised me that additional company crew members wanted to deadhead on our trip to msp. The flight was full so I told her to have the additional crew members occupy the jumpseats. Upon arrival in msp I discovered that more crew than available legal jumpseats had made the trip. This potential safety hazard could have been avoided had I been more specific about which jumpseats could be occupied by the additional crew.
