Narrative:
In 3/89 I planned a flight from 7g8 to cvg. En route one of the passenger on board had some problems, so we landed at cmh. I refiled the remaining flight plan. The flight would take 1 hour, 30 mins. The ILS 28L into cmh was performed. I had 2 hours, 30 mins fuel remaining. En route from cmh to cvg I was having trouble with the #2 navigation. It would show a positive indication then show no indication. The #1 navigation showed signs of trouble at this point. I was turned over to cvg. The WX was 400 scattered, 4000' overcast. Visibility was 3-4 mi light rain and fog. I was cleared for the 27L ILS approach into covington. The G/south #1 navigation was showing no indication at all. I lost the #1 navigation. The #2 navigation was working, but I couldn't trust it at this point. Tower then told me to go missed because I was holding up traffic. I was indicating 100 KTS. The second try I had positive indication on both navs and was established on the approach when I lost the #1 navigation then the #2 navigation. After the miss I was instructed to expect a 2 mi turn on which I refused. I was then sent to cincinnati lunken airport, because there was less traffic. I was told to expect the ILS 20L approach into lunken and was asked my fuel situation. I was showing a little under 1/4 tank on both gauges. I told lunken approach that I was low. They then amended my approach and told me to expect the localizer backcourse into 2R because of my position. I never received a positive indication on any of my navaids, so tower gave me what seemed to be an ASR approach. I had 7 gals usable after landing. This is about 50 mins of fuel. I have had the navaids checked at lunken and the mechanic found loose wiring.

Title: GA SMA LOST NAVIGATION RADIOS ON AN IFR FLT TO CVG. CVG SENT THE ACFT TO LUK AFTER 2 MISSED APCHS. LUK GAVE RADAR VECTORS FOR APCH.
Narrative: IN 3/89 I PLANNED A FLT FROM 7G8 TO CVG. ENRTE ONE OF THE PAX ON BOARD HAD SOME PROBS, SO WE LANDED AT CMH. I REFILED THE REMAINING FLT PLAN. THE FLT WOULD TAKE 1 HR, 30 MINS. THE ILS 28L INTO CMH WAS PERFORMED. I HAD 2 HRS, 30 MINS FUEL REMAINING. ENRTE FROM CMH TO CVG I WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE #2 NAV. IT WOULD SHOW A POSITIVE INDICATION THEN SHOW NO INDICATION. THE #1 NAV SHOWED SIGNS OF TROUBLE AT THIS POINT. I WAS TURNED OVER TO CVG. THE WX WAS 400 SCATTERED, 4000' OVCST. VISIBILITY WAS 3-4 MI LIGHT RAIN AND FOG. I WAS CLRED FOR THE 27L ILS APCH INTO COVINGTON. THE G/S #1 NAV WAS SHOWING NO INDICATION AT ALL. I LOST THE #1 NAV. THE #2 NAV WAS WORKING, BUT I COULDN'T TRUST IT AT THIS POINT. TWR THEN TOLD ME TO GO MISSED BECAUSE I WAS HOLDING UP TFC. I WAS INDICATING 100 KTS. THE SECOND TRY I HAD POSITIVE INDICATION ON BOTH NAVS AND WAS ESTABLISHED ON THE APCH WHEN I LOST THE #1 NAV THEN THE #2 NAV. AFTER THE MISS I WAS INSTRUCTED TO EXPECT A 2 MI TURN ON WHICH I REFUSED. I WAS THEN SENT TO CINCINNATI LUNKEN ARPT, BECAUSE THERE WAS LESS TFC. I WAS TOLD TO EXPECT THE ILS 20L APCH INTO LUNKEN AND WAS ASKED MY FUEL SITUATION. I WAS SHOWING A LITTLE UNDER 1/4 TANK ON BOTH GAUGES. I TOLD LUNKEN APCH THAT I WAS LOW. THEY THEN AMENDED MY APCH AND TOLD ME TO EXPECT THE LOC BACKCOURSE INTO 2R BECAUSE OF MY POS. I NEVER RECEIVED A POSITIVE INDICATION ON ANY OF MY NAVAIDS, SO TWR GAVE ME WHAT SEEMED TO BE AN ASR APCH. I HAD 7 GALS USABLE AFTER LNDG. THIS IS ABOUT 50 MINS OF FUEL. I HAVE HAD THE NAVAIDS CHKED AT LUNKEN AND THE MECH FOUND LOOSE WIRING.
