Narrative:
Controller issued clearance to cross pvd at 11000', 250 KTS. I read back the clearance correctly but set 10000' in the altitude alerter by mistake. Approximately 11400' in descent we realized error but aircraft descended to approximately 10200' before we could get it 'bottomed out' and climb back to 11000'. Unsure why I set 10000' unless it was due to force of habit setting 10000/250 KT for home base arrival. Supplemental information from acn 107661. ATC called us passing through 10500', told us to maintain 11000', we climbed back to 11000'.

Title: ACR WDB ALT DEVIATION OVERSHOT DURING DESCENT. FO EQUATED 250 KT SPEED RESTRICTION WITH 10000' AND SET THIS ALT INTO THE ALT ALERT INSTEAD OF CLRNC ALT OF 11000'.
Narrative: CTLR ISSUED CLRNC TO CROSS PVD AT 11000', 250 KTS. I READ BACK THE CLRNC CORRECTLY BUT SET 10000' IN THE ALT ALERTER BY MISTAKE. APPROX 11400' IN DSCNT WE REALIZED ERROR BUT ACFT DSNDED TO APPROX 10200' BEFORE WE COULD GET IT 'BOTTOMED OUT' AND CLB BACK TO 11000'. UNSURE WHY I SET 10000' UNLESS IT WAS DUE TO FORCE OF HABIT SETTING 10000/250 KT FOR HOME BASE ARR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 107661. ATC CALLED US PASSING THROUGH 10500', TOLD US TO MAINTAIN 11000', WE CLBED BACK TO 11000'.
