Narrative:
Cruising at 39000', given clearance to cross 70 NM northeast of pmm at 31000'. I programmed FMC, then attention was distracted by logbook maintenance items, F/a cabin problems and non-essential cockpit conversation. Airplane did not start descent at appropriate time and we missed restriction by approximately 2000'. Solution would be better crew coordination (some personality conflicts occurred) and elimination of non-essential conversation at critical phases of flight. In this case it won't happen again.
