Narrative:
While climbing out of lax on gmn departure SID heading 360 degree climbing thru 12000', departure control reported traffic 1-2 O'clock wbound 13600' and 5 mi. About the time we sighted traffic our controller issued a traffic alert and cleared us from 13000' to 16000' since the traffic was descending. We increased our climb and turned away (to the northwest) from him. He went below and behind. He was in radio contact with lax ATC and we were on departure control.
