Narrative:
We were taxiing on taxiway Q for takeoff on runway 9L at mia. We understood that we were to monitor tower after getting on taxiway Q. We went to frequency 123.9 and monitored. Holding short of 9L with aircraft parallel to 12, after a few moments we had not heard a radio call, so we switched to 118.3 and were informed by mia tower that we were encroaching on the runways. He stated the hold line was about 2 aircraft lengths behind us. At that time I was at least 200' from runways 9L and 12, at what looked safe, well beyond what turned out to be the old hold line. There are no signs at this runway hold area, as this hold line is very far from the runway (estimated 50'). Since this hold line is very far from the runways and the runway confign is non standard, the following should be considered: 1) hold line should be marked with lighted red signs. 2) page 10-9 in commercial chart should be noted that a non standard type hold line exist this should be noted on all runways and airports with hold lines as far away as this one. 3) tower frequency should be clearly noted as what runway it controls and if different, a positive change from ground should occur. 4) old hold lines should be positively eliminated from txwys.
