Narrative:
Both efb's locked up while in precipitation static while descending in clouds on [RNAV arrival]; copilot was flying. We were deviating for rain showers when both efb's froze. Displays still worked; but no inputs on screens worked. Got out of seat to get paper backup charts stored in galley area. Bad time for major distraction.
