Narrative:
While taxiing; I made a sudden stop of our aircraft because I perceived imminent contact with a regional carrier aircraft crossing our path from left to right. Flight attendants #1 and #2 requested to be removed due to contact with service carts. Returned to gate and flight attendants deplaned under supervision of medical personnel. If flight attendants were required to be in their seats at all times when aircraft was taxiing; they would not have been hurt.
