Narrative:
While in cruise the 'fuel bypass' warning light illuminated on the left engine. We completed the procedure in the QRH and decided to divert. We declared an emergency with ATC and proceeded to the divert airport uneventfully and landed. Upon gate arrival; we terminated the emergency with tower.

Title: A B-737-800 crew completed the QRH; declared an emergency and diverted after the FILTER BYPASS warning light alerted.
Narrative: While in cruise the 'Fuel Bypass' warning light illuminated on the left engine. We completed the procedure in the QRH and decided to divert.
