Narrative:
Flying the ORD7; climbing thru 10;000 ft did not stay at 250 KTS (as it states on the departure plate) but accelerated to 300 KIAS. Would not have missed the restriction if I had been using paper plates (mine have the restriction highlighted)! But was using the i-pad and had the zoom in function in use for the brief (we both did and both missed the 250 KIAS restriction). Have added a note book for station info that I have started to use to avoid this in the future.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: An Air Carrier crew departed on the ORD7 and accelerated to 300 knots because they had zoomed in on the iPad looking at the altitude restrictions and missed the speed constraint because it would outside of the selected viewing area during the brief.
