Narrative:
Left main wheel damaged by aviator (no mechanic service). Taxied aircraft to hangar #2 (with ground control control contact) for repair. Returned on foot to meet with ramp manager. Walked across grass area southwest of end of runway 6 to ramp. Shortly after told to call tower. They asked and received my name, address and aircraft #. I was told I crossed 'protected' area, and there is a sidewalk to be used. Upon my return walk I found a small strip of broken cement approximately 6-8' further southwest mostly under water (had previously rained heavily). In talking to many people I find this happens several times each week. This needs some type of marking (clearly), so as to prevent this happening again. Ps: this area is wide open to public road going around this corner (no gate).
