Narrative:
Our flight was air carrier X large transport. After landing we were taxiing northwest on taxiway wb at iah to our gate. Air carrier Y flight was given progressive taxi instructions and was taxiing south on we to their gate (wb and we converge at the vicinity of the control tower.) as we approached we it was obvious that we could not pass the air carrier Y large transport aircraft west/O someone moving off the taxi line. Both aircraft were stopped and air carrier Y questioned ground control concerning how we were going to pass each other. Ground told air carrier Y that we were told to give way to their aircraft. We never heard those instructions, nor replied when ground said they issued them. No big problem at this point. Ground requested that air carrier Y move to the left so that we could pass each other. He refused to move off the taxi line unless someone took responsibility. (You could have taxied a widebody transport between air carrier Y large transport and the ramp space available to his left.) ground told him he could shut his engines down and be towed in. We decided to move left of the centerline and taxi around. Air carrier Y requested tower phone # and then said that we taxied on the grass (left main gear). Upon arrival at our gate, I checked left main gear and found no evidence of grass or dirt on the tires. We departed the airport on another flight approximately 1 hour later. Our taxi to the active took us right past the intersection of wb and we. We saw no evidence of tire marks in the grass. Such a simple situation had to be blown so far out of proportion because of the obvious hostility this captain has toward air carrier X pilots. He also made no friends with the tower when he called them about us, ground, etc. On the other hand, had we heard ground's previous instructions, this would not have happened.

Title: 2 ACR LGTS MET IN A STAND-OFF TAXIING TO GATE AFTER LNDG.
Narrative: OUR FLT WAS ACR X LGT. AFTER LNDG WE WERE TAXIING NW ON TXWY WB AT IAH TO OUR GATE. ACR Y FLT WAS GIVEN PROGRESSIVE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS AND WAS TAXIING S ON WE TO THEIR GATE (WB AND WE CONVERGE AT THE VICINITY OF THE CTL TWR.) AS WE APCHED WE IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT WE COULD NOT PASS THE ACR Y LGT ACFT W/O SOMEONE MOVING OFF THE TAXI LINE. BOTH ACFT WERE STOPPED AND ACR Y QUESTIONED GND CTL CONCERNING HOW WE WERE GOING TO PASS EACH OTHER. GND TOLD ACR Y THAT WE WERE TOLD TO GIVE WAY TO THEIR ACFT. WE NEVER HEARD THOSE INSTRUCTIONS, NOR REPLIED WHEN GND SAID THEY ISSUED THEM. NO BIG PROB AT THIS POINT. GND REQUESTED THAT ACR Y MOVE TO THE LEFT SO THAT WE COULD PASS EACH OTHER. HE REFUSED TO MOVE OFF THE TAXI LINE UNLESS SOMEONE TOOK RESPONSIBILITY. (YOU COULD HAVE TAXIED A WDB BTWN ACR Y LGT AND THE RAMP SPACE AVAILABLE TO HIS LEFT.) GND TOLD HIM HE COULD SHUT HIS ENGS DOWN AND BE TOWED IN. WE DECIDED TO MOVE LEFT OF THE CENTERLINE AND TAXI AROUND. ACR Y REQUESTED TWR PHONE # AND THEN SAID THAT WE TAXIED ON THE GRASS (LEFT MAIN GEAR). UPON ARR AT OUR GATE, I CHKED LEFT MAIN GEAR AND FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF GRASS OR DIRT ON THE TIRES. WE DEPARTED THE ARPT ON ANOTHER FLT APPROX 1 HR LATER. OUR TAXI TO THE ACTIVE TOOK US RIGHT PAST THE INTXN OF WB AND WE. WE SAW NO EVIDENCE OF TIRE MARKS IN THE GRASS. SUCH A SIMPLE SITUATION HAD TO BE BLOWN SO FAR OUT OF PROPORTION BECAUSE OF THE OBVIOUS HOSTILITY THIS CAPT HAS TOWARD ACR X PLTS. HE ALSO MADE NO FRIENDS WITH THE TWR WHEN HE CALLED THEM ABOUT US, GND, ETC. ON THE OTHER HAND, HAD WE HEARD GND'S PREVIOUS INSTRUCTIONS, THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.
