Narrative:
On departure from ewr, departure control called mdt traffic at 2 O'clock at 9000'. We had the traffic and were cleared to climb to 10000' with visibility sep on traffic. Going through 9000', he was closer than I considered comfortable and the actual distance between us was difficult to estimate. No evasive action.

Title: PROX OF ANOTHER ACFT CALLED AS TRAFFIC ON IFR CLIMBOUT.
Narrative: ON DEP FROM EWR, DEP CTL CALLED MDT TFC AT 2 O'CLOCK AT 9000'. WE HAD THE TFC AND WERE CLRED TO CLB TO 10000' WITH VIS SEP ON TFC. GOING THROUGH 9000', HE WAS CLOSER THAN I CONSIDERED COMFORTABLE AND THE ACTUAL DISTANCE BTWN US WAS DIFFICULT TO ESTIMATE. NO EVASIVE ACTION.
