Narrative:

During a recent exercise while I was leading a 5 ship flight through the gamecock a MOA the following occurred: we were scheduled to proceed in the gamecock a MOA from a point near the west side of the MOA to a point on the east side. During our passage we were to be attacked by enemy air. From the point in the east of the MOA we were to fly an ir-route and then enter a R-5306 a to make a time over target. While inside the MOA we were under ZDC frequencys, in whose sector the MOA is located. As I approached the eastern point I began requesting a clearance out of the MOA to the ir low level. The center advised me that they could not work me yet and to remain in the MOA at 10000'. At this time my second element announced that they could not see us anymore. I began a left turn to stay in the MOA and to hopefully visually acquire my second element (of 2 aircraft). As I attempted this I kept asking the center for clearance to the ir. I did a few more 360 degree turns and finally acquired my trailing element. As I looked and found them I commenced to direct them toward my position. It was then that center advised me to return to the MOA and maintain iot. I was outside the MOA. I again requested clearance to the ir route and was told I only had the option of going back to the MOA and iot or cancel the IFR. They were too busy to work me at that time. I feel I became task saturated while ensuring that I could keep my flight together, ensuring that I could make my time over to target and ensure that the enemy air would not come in unseen. As a result, my attention to my exact position was lost long enough for the spill to occur. I will add that I was under a readiness inspection stress and that this was a new area for me in which the visibility was greatly reduced by a thick haze layer.

Title: MIL FGT LEADING FLT OF 5 ACFT INADVERTENTLY SPILLED OUT OF MOA.

Narrative: DURING A RECENT EXERCISE WHILE I WAS LEADING A 5 SHIP FLT THROUGH THE GAMECOCK A MOA THE FOLLOWING OCCURRED: WE WERE SCHEDULED TO PROCEED IN THE GAMECOCK A MOA FROM A POINT NEAR THE W SIDE OF THE MOA TO A POINT ON THE E SIDE. DURING OUR PASSAGE WE WERE TO BE ATTACKED BY ENEMY AIR. FROM THE POINT IN THE E OF THE MOA WE WERE TO FLY AN IR-ROUTE AND THEN ENTER A R-5306 A TO MAKE A TIME OVER TARGET. WHILE INSIDE THE MOA WE WERE UNDER ZDC FREQS, IN WHOSE SECTOR THE MOA IS LOCATED. AS I APCHED THE EASTERN POINT I BEGAN REQUESTING A CLRNC OUT OF THE MOA TO THE IR LOW LEVEL. THE CENTER ADVISED ME THAT THEY COULD NOT WORK ME YET AND TO REMAIN IN THE MOA AT 10000'. AT THIS TIME MY SECOND ELEMENT ANNOUNCED THAT THEY COULD NOT SEE US ANYMORE. I BEGAN A LEFT TURN TO STAY IN THE MOA AND TO HOPEFULLY VISUALLY ACQUIRE MY SECOND ELEMENT (OF 2 ACFT). AS I ATTEMPTED THIS I KEPT ASKING THE CENTER FOR CLRNC TO THE IR. I DID A FEW MORE 360 DEG TURNS AND FINALLY ACQUIRED MY TRAILING ELEMENT. AS I LOOKED AND FOUND THEM I COMMENCED TO DIRECT THEM TOWARD MY POS. IT WAS THEN THAT CENTER ADVISED ME TO RETURN TO THE MOA AND MAINTAIN IOT. I WAS OUTSIDE THE MOA. I AGAIN REQUESTED CLRNC TO THE IR ROUTE AND WAS TOLD I ONLY HAD THE OPTION OF GOING BACK TO THE MOA AND IOT OR CANCEL THE IFR. THEY WERE TOO BUSY TO WORK ME AT THAT TIME. I FEEL I BECAME TASK SATURATED WHILE ENSURING THAT I COULD KEEP MY FLT TOGETHER, ENSURING THAT I COULD MAKE MY TIME OVER TO TARGET AND ENSURE THAT THE ENEMY AIR WOULD NOT COME IN UNSEEN. AS A RESULT, MY ATTN TO MY EXACT POS WAS LOST LONG ENOUGH FOR THE SPILL TO OCCUR. I WILL ADD THAT I WAS UNDER A READINESS INSPECTION STRESS AND THAT THIS WAS A NEW AREA FOR ME IN WHICH THE VISIBILITY WAS GREATLY REDUCED BY A THICK HAZE LAYER.
