Narrative:

I was working ZNY sector 10 (harh) radar position and was in communication with air carrier X which departed phl via J110 J6. ZDC sector 4 (poth) took the radar handoff on air carrier X leaving FL210 climbing to FL310. I attempted a pointout to ZDC sector 6 (hgrl) to make pointout on air carrier X who was climbing through their airspace until out of FL280. Hgrl didn't answer. My handoff man then attempted to make the pointout twice more but still no answer. I then asked air carrier X to increase climb. When I saw he wasn't going to make it I turned air carrier X left to a 180 degree heading. This heading would clear hgrl airspace by 10 mi. At about this time ZDC flashed me the handoff on air carrier Y northbound on J220 at FL270, and ZDC called and said to either expedite or turn air carrier X because they had traffic at FL270. My handoff man then got on the line and told who he thought was hgrl that air carrier X was already in a left turn. At this point everything is worked out fine, but then someone from ZDC said that air carrier Y was turning right (a terrible move). By air carrier Y turning right and air carrier X on a 180 degree heading, they were aimed at each other. My handoff man and ZDC then agreed to turn both aircraft right. I turned air carrier X right to 290 degree heading nd again asked him to increase climb. At this point he was out of FL263. I then cleared air carrier X to a tight turn of 300 degrees. I then descended air carrier X from FL266 to FL260.

Title: IN AN ATTEMPT TO VECTOR ACFT AWAY FROM EACH OTHER, RADAR SEPARATION WAS LOST.

Narrative: I WAS WORKING ZNY SECTOR 10 (HARH) RADAR POS AND WAS IN COM WITH ACR X WHICH DEPARTED PHL VIA J110 J6. ZDC SECTOR 4 (POTH) TOOK THE RADAR HDOF ON ACR X LEAVING FL210 CLBING TO FL310. I ATTEMPTED A POINTOUT TO ZDC SECTOR 6 (HGRL) TO MAKE POINTOUT ON ACR X WHO WAS CLBING THROUGH THEIR AIRSPACE UNTIL OUT OF FL280. HGRL DIDN'T ANSWER. MY HDOF MAN THEN ATTEMPTED TO MAKE THE POINTOUT TWICE MORE BUT STILL NO ANSWER. I THEN ASKED ACR X TO INCREASE CLB. WHEN I SAW HE WASN'T GOING TO MAKE IT I TURNED ACR X LEFT TO A 180 DEG HDG. THIS HDG WOULD CLR HGRL AIRSPACE BY 10 MI. AT ABOUT THIS TIME ZDC FLASHED ME THE HDOF ON ACR Y NBOUND ON J220 AT FL270, AND ZDC CALLED AND SAID TO EITHER EXPEDITE OR TURN ACR X BECAUSE THEY HAD TFC AT FL270. MY HDOF MAN THEN GOT ON THE LINE AND TOLD WHO HE THOUGHT WAS HGRL THAT ACR X WAS ALREADY IN A LEFT TURN. AT THIS POINT EVERYTHING IS WORKED OUT FINE, BUT THEN SOMEONE FROM ZDC SAID THAT ACR Y WAS TURNING RIGHT (A TERRIBLE MOVE). BY ACR Y TURNING RIGHT AND ACR X ON A 180 DEG HDG, THEY WERE AIMED AT EACH OTHER. MY HDOF MAN AND ZDC THEN AGREED TO TURN BOTH ACFT RIGHT. I TURNED ACR X RIGHT TO 290 DEG HDG ND AGAIN ASKED HIM TO INCREASE CLB. AT THIS POINT HE WAS OUT OF FL263. I THEN CLRED ACR X TO A TIGHT TURN OF 300 DEGS. I THEN DSNDED ACR X FROM FL266 TO FL260.
