Narrative:

Was wbound on V92, IFR flight plan, from lnn to 1c6. In the segment of the flight involved, had filed and been cleared V92 to cgt. About the 60 degree right off fwa was given an amendment to my clearance: turn left 10 direct knox (oxi) direct peotone (eon) V38 kelsi intersection direct pll. Dialed in 108.8 (oxi) and got mfd identify ??. My chart indicates these 2 stations, oxi mfd are both on 108.8 and only about 108 NM apart. I called fwa approach to make sure oxi was indeed on 108.8 and I didn't have a chart error. Fwa assured me 108.8 was correct and asked to notify him when I was receiving oxi. Had good reliable signal about 335 degree right off fwa and notified the controller. Now the point of this report, under the meteorological conditions involved, the situation was only an inconvenience to me and I'm sure the fwa controller. Had I been I hard IMC with plenty of turbulence, this would have been an inconvenience I needed like I need another hole in my head. I realize compatible frequency assignment is a major logistic problem. Maybe this is the best that can be expected in this particular geographic area. Just thought I would convey my experience for what it may be worth.

Title: PLT OF SMA EXPERIENCED SIGNAL OVERLAP OF 2 VOR SIGNALS APPROX 108 NM APART SAME FREQ.

Narrative: WAS WBOUND ON V92, IFR FLT PLAN, FROM LNN TO 1C6. IN THE SEGMENT OF THE FLT INVOLVED, HAD FILED AND BEEN CLRED V92 TO CGT. ABOUT THE 60 DEG R OFF FWA WAS GIVEN AN AMENDMENT TO MY CLRNC: TURN LEFT 10 DIRECT KNOX (OXI) DIRECT PEOTONE (EON) V38 KELSI INTXN DIRECT PLL. DIALED IN 108.8 (OXI) AND GOT MFD IDENT ??. MY CHART INDICATES THESE 2 STATIONS, OXI MFD ARE BOTH ON 108.8 AND ONLY ABOUT 108 NM APART. I CALLED FWA APCH TO MAKE SURE OXI WAS INDEED ON 108.8 AND I DIDN'T HAVE A CHART ERROR. FWA ASSURED ME 108.8 WAS CORRECT AND ASKED TO NOTIFY HIM WHEN I WAS RECEIVING OXI. HAD GOOD RELIABLE SIGNAL ABOUT 335 DEG R OFF FWA AND NOTIFIED THE CTLR. NOW THE POINT OF THIS RPT, UNDER THE METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS INVOLVED, THE SITUATION WAS ONLY AN INCONVENIENCE TO ME AND I'M SURE THE FWA CTLR. HAD I BEEN I HARD IMC WITH PLENTY OF TURB, THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN AN INCONVENIENCE I NEEDED LIKE I NEED ANOTHER HOLE IN MY HEAD. I REALIZE COMPATIBLE FREQ ASSIGNMENT IS A MAJOR LOGISTIC PROB. MAYBE THIS IS THE BEST THAT CAN BE EXPECTED IN THIS PARTICULAR GEOGRAPHIC AREA. JUST THOUGHT I WOULD CONVEY MY EXPERIENCE FOR WHAT IT MAY BE WORTH.
