Narrative:
Gate agents in gva brought a pistol to the airplane, which had been cleared by security. They were instructed to put it in the cargo bin. Instead, just prior to departure, it was given to a F/a and placed in a closet drawer. I was not aware of the pistol being in the cabin until going back to the cabin for my crew rest. Customs and security were notified and met the flight in iah.
