Narrative:

Evasive action was initiated to avoid a single engine small aircraft (red) while we were on left base to final approach to runway 24 at dutchess county airport. We were in radio contact with the tower and were cleared to land right after the avoidance. The small aircraft seemed to be coming from the kingston VOR for a straight in landing. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: I was flying and I saw the small aircraft approximately over the kingston VOR. After we had maneuvered to miss him he veered away. We were cleared to land and we then heard him contact the tower asking for traffic. He landed after we did. I do not think he had contacted the tower previous to our seeing him.
