Narrative:

En route from bna-mci, experienced rapid decompression after a few mins at cruise FL350. I was first officer and PNF. Crew verified situation, declared emergency. Began emergency descent. All checklist procedures were accomplished. We elected to divert to stl where approach and landing were uneventful. No injuries or damage--aircraft repair at maintenance revealed a defective pressurization control panel, repaired/returned to service. FAA inspectors were on hand shortly after arrival at stl.
