Narrative:

Company maintenance control requested we perform a test flight required for return to service of an aircraft with reported gear indication problem. The problem was described as right main gear visually down and locked as indicated by horizontal strut alignment marks and trunnion pin position. The in-transit light had remained illuminated, but changed to green after landing. Maintenance had inspected gear, found switch dirty, and sticky, cleaned and lubed switch and signed log with aforementioned request for test flight. Since the previous crew had visually verified gear down and locked and subsequent inspection determined a dirty, sticky switch, we were not concerned about a test flight. During test flight gear retraction was normal, but upon extension the right main gear in-transit light remained illuminated. Gear was visually confirmed only partially extended and maintenance control was contacted. After discussion with maintenance, abnormal indication procedures were initiated west/O successful extension of the right main gear. Contact was made with aircraft manufacture reps by company flight department personnel during period prior to landing, but unresolved. We landed several hours after departure with left main and nose gear down and locked, and right main not fully extended. All emergency items had been reviewed thoroughly and accomplished. Aircraft settled to right after right main gear collapsed, but remained on runway. Damage was minimal enough to contain event to that of incident, at least at time of this report.

Title: MDT ON TEST FLT TO DETERMINE IF MAINTENANCE HAD CORRECTED A GEAR DOWN PROBLEM. DISCOVERED RIGHT MAIN GEAR WOULD NOT FULLY EXTEND. LANDED AND RIGHT GEAR COLLAPSED. MINOR DAMAGE TO ACFT. CLASSED AS INCIDENT.

Narrative: COMPANY MAINT CTL REQUESTED WE PERFORM A TEST FLT REQUIRED FOR RETURN TO SVC OF AN ACFT WITH RPTED GEAR INDICATION PROB. THE PROB WAS DESCRIBED AS RIGHT MAIN GEAR VISUALLY DOWN AND LOCKED AS INDICATED BY HORIZ STRUT ALIGNMENT MARKS AND TRUNNION PIN POS. THE IN-TRANSIT LIGHT HAD REMAINED ILLUMINATED, BUT CHANGED TO GREEN AFTER LNDG. MAINT HAD INSPECTED GEAR, FOUND SWITCH DIRTY, AND STICKY, CLEANED AND LUBED SWITCH AND SIGNED LOG WITH AFOREMENTIONED REQUEST FOR TEST FLT. SINCE THE PREVIOUS CREW HAD VISUALLY VERIFIED GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED AND SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION DETERMINED A DIRTY, STICKY SWITCH, WE WERE NOT CONCERNED ABOUT A TEST FLT. DURING TEST FLT GEAR RETRACTION WAS NORMAL, BUT UPON EXTENSION THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR IN-TRANSIT LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. GEAR WAS VISUALLY CONFIRMED ONLY PARTIALLY EXTENDED AND MAINT CTL WAS CONTACTED. AFTER DISCUSSION WITH MAINT, ABNORMAL INDICATION PROCS WERE INITIATED W/O SUCCESSFUL EXTENSION OF THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR. CONTACT WAS MADE WITH ACFT MANUFACTURE REPS BY COMPANY FLT DEPT PERSONNEL DURING PERIOD PRIOR TO LNDG, BUT UNRESOLVED. WE LANDED SEVERAL HRS AFTER DEP WITH LEFT MAIN AND NOSE GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED, AND RIGHT MAIN NOT FULLY EXTENDED. ALL EMER ITEMS HAD BEEN REVIEWED THOROUGHLY AND ACCOMPLISHED. ACFT SETTLED TO RIGHT AFTER RIGHT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED, BUT REMAINED ON RWY. DAMAGE WAS MINIMAL ENOUGH TO CONTAIN EVENT TO THAT OF INCIDENT, AT LEAST AT TIME OF THIS RPT.
