Narrative:
Flight from sjc to sna was rerouted from ave to flw with the tandy arrival. We programmed flw, flw 123/ave 148, sadde, tandy, as visually depicted the it turns out that the radial intersection is south of sadde not north, as depicted. If flown on autoplt, the aircraft makes a 360 degree turn, and if this turn is interrupted, the aircraft is very high at tandy. We discovered this and received clearance to cross tandy high. I suggest that the depiction be changed to direct sadde from flw (it is only about .2 NM away). Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: we were flying a new aircraft with glamorous navigation equipment and I wanted to use all of it. I programmed in sadde using 148 degree right off fillmore and 20 mi. Aircraft was flying 123 degrees off fellows but when the autoplt realized the aircraft was passing sadde it apparently tried to go to sadde the way I had it programmed. It was then we realized that 123 degree right off of fellows actually intercepts the 148 degree right off fillmore just south of sadde. Tandy 1 arrival chart is, of course, not to scale but the depiction should show show the 123 degree right off fellows as direct to sadde to avoid confusing the aircraft's computerized program.

Title: ACFT'S COMPUTERIZED, PROGRAMMED AUTOPLT, ATTEMPTED TO FLY TO INTERSECTION IMPROPERLY DEPICTED ON STAR CHART.
Narrative: FLT FROM SJC TO SNA WAS REROUTED FROM AVE TO FLW WITH THE TANDY ARR. WE PROGRAMMED FLW, FLW 123/AVE 148, SADDE, TANDY, AS VISUALLY DEPICTED THE IT TURNS OUT THAT THE RADIAL INTXN IS S OF SADDE NOT N, AS DEPICTED. IF FLOWN ON AUTOPLT, THE ACFT MAKES A 360 DEG TURN, AND IF THIS TURN IS INTERRUPTED, THE ACFT IS VERY HIGH AT TANDY. WE DISCOVERED THIS AND RECEIVED CLRNC TO CROSS TANDY HIGH. I SUGGEST THAT THE DEPICTION BE CHANGED TO DIRECT SADDE FROM FLW (IT IS ONLY ABOUT .2 NM AWAY). CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: WE WERE FLYING A NEW ACFT WITH GLAMOROUS NAV EQUIP AND I WANTED TO USE ALL OF IT. I PROGRAMMED IN SADDE USING 148 DEG R OFF FILLMORE AND 20 MI. ACFT WAS FLYING 123 DEGS OFF FELLOWS BUT WHEN THE AUTOPLT REALIZED THE ACFT WAS PASSING SADDE IT APPARENTLY TRIED TO GO TO SADDE THE WAY I HAD IT PROGRAMMED. IT WAS THEN WE REALIZED THAT 123 DEG R OFF OF FELLOWS ACTUALLY INTERCEPTS THE 148 DEG R OFF FILLMORE JUST S OF SADDE. TANDY 1 ARR CHART IS, OF COURSE, NOT TO SCALE BUT THE DEPICTION SHOULD SHOW SHOW THE 123 DEG R OFF FELLOWS AS DIRECT TO SADDE TO AVOID CONFUSING THE ACFT'S COMPUTERIZED PROGRAM.
