Narrative:
Climbing northeast on ZLA, leveled at 27000'. 29000' vectored north for climb. Leveled at 31000' through to 33000'. After level cleared direct drake VOR. Cleared for immediate left turn 50 degrees. Another aircraft given 50 degree right turn--advised of conflict and given ZLA phone #. Raw data VOR. Stronger than forecast wind. VOR only navigation, radial drift, scalloping. Lack of precision navigation capability of early jets.
