Narrative:
June 2013; [during the] aircraft's servce visit; the left aft (L2) cabin door slide was changed. In october 2013; the aircraft was in a base maintenance for scheduled maintenance. It was during this visit on task card sequence XXX; that maintenance personnel found the wrong slide was previously installed at the L2 position. The slide was removed and replaced without incident. It was after this change that I was made aware of the error that resulted in the wrong slide being installed. The correct part number (P/north) per the illustrated parts catalog (ipc) is XXX88-YYY; for the aft [door] position. The part number that was installed was XXX86-YYY; which corresponds to a forward [door] position. This was an unintentional error that occured from what I believe to be a key stroke error when ordering the part.
