Narrative:
After a company directed swap of aircraft in ewr I was given a new dispatch release and a flight plan with an overland routing from ewr-pbi. (My previous aircraft was overwater equipped and given an overwater ar-1 routing.) since I had received a new release and new flight plan and never got a clearance before switching aircraft I had no reason to suspect any problems. We were cleared 'as filed'. When ZDC questioned our routing I realized that my dispatcher never refiled my flight plan. The only way to prevent this totally is always get a complete readback which is not feasible at most busy airports. I must assume that dispatchers do their jobs correctly.
