Narrative:
Departed midway at xa for mci. WX packet had 1 SIGMET reported 1/2 way between mdw and mci. No other significant WX reported. On taxi out turn on radar had note solid line of trw 20 mi west (surprise). We were assigned runway 22 for what I think would be a vector parallel to this n-s line. We were cleared to go assigned heading 280, straight at line of trw (2ND surprise). We called departure and they acknowledged our west heading. We asked departure about their plan regarding solid red line of trw at 12 O'clock 15 mi. They said they had lots of traffic. We couldn't parallel the line and anyway it goes off his scope! He replied we can't penetrate and he replied with an offer of vector east or land back at midway. We accepted a 090 vector, later amended to fly direct to chicago heights VOR (southeast) switch to chicago center 'they'll call you'. They were busy. Eventually we flew 120 mi south to get around WX. 1) why did departure try to send us through a solid line. Were we a test case? 2) our 'canned' flight set us up for a flight wbound into trw line. 3) my company dispatch did not advise me of line of trw west of chicago.

Title: DEPARTING ACR HAS SEVERE WX IMPACTING DEP ROUTE.
Narrative: DEPARTED MIDWAY AT XA FOR MCI. WX PACKET HAD 1 SIGMET REPORTED 1/2 WAY BETWEEN MDW AND MCI. NO OTHER SIGNIFICANT WX REPORTED. ON TAXI OUT TURN ON RADAR HAD NOTE SOLID LINE OF TRW 20 MI W (SURPRISE). WE WERE ASSIGNED RWY 22 FOR WHAT I THINK WOULD BE A VECTOR PARALLEL TO THIS N-S LINE. WE WERE CLRED TO GO ASSIGNED HDG 280, STRAIGHT AT LINE OF TRW (2ND SURPRISE). WE CALLED DEP AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED OUR WEST HDG. WE ASKED DEP ABOUT THEIR PLAN REGARDING SOLID RED LINE OF TRW AT 12 O'CLOCK 15 MI. THEY SAID THEY HAD LOTS OF TFC. WE COULDN'T PARALLEL THE LINE AND ANYWAY IT GOES OFF HIS SCOPE! HE REPLIED WE CAN'T PENETRATE AND HE REPLIED WITH AN OFFER OF VECTOR EAST OR LAND BACK AT MIDWAY. WE ACCEPTED A 090 VECTOR, LATER AMENDED TO FLY DIRECT TO CHICAGO HEIGHTS VOR (SE) SWITCH TO CHICAGO CENTER 'THEY'LL CALL YOU'. THEY WERE BUSY. EVENTUALLY WE FLEW 120 MI S TO GET AROUND WX. 1) WHY DID DEP TRY TO SEND US THROUGH A SOLID LINE. WERE WE A TEST CASE? 2) OUR 'CANNED' FLT SET US UP FOR A FLT WBOUND INTO TRW LINE. 3) MY COMPANY DISPATCH DID NOT ADVISE ME OF LINE OF TRW W OF CHICAGO.
