Narrative:
Tarl 4 rdu departure fay transition. I missed the turn to fay and continued on rdu 210 degree radial until controller noticed the error. Problem caused by my lack of attention to SID and by first officer failing to notice that I missed the turn to fay. I'll be more careful in the future. First officer should be advised to be more helpful as a backup.

Title: HEADING AND TRACK DEVIATION ON SID.
Narrative: TARL 4 RDU DEPARTURE FAY TRANSITION. I MISSED THE TURN TO FAY AND CONTINUED ON RDU 210 DEG RADIAL UNTIL CTLR NOTICED THE ERROR. PROBLEM CAUSED BY MY LACK OF ATTN TO SID AND BY F/O FAILING TO NOTICE THAT I MISSED THE TURN TO FAY. I'LL BE MORE CAREFUL IN THE FUTURE. F/O SHOULD BE ADVISED TO BE MORE HELPFUL AS A BACKUP.
