Narrative:
Landing on non approved 121 runway. In chicago midway airport. On short final ATC (tower) changed landing runway from 4R to 4L. At this point only having time to check distance required and distance available we accepted. Radio traffic was at a maximum and very hard to query or challenge any directives from tower. After further investigation found 121 operation on 4L north/a. Early notice from tower would have helped us make a more prudent decision. Last second decisions do not help safety. Controllers should not have issued this runway to this type operation.
