Narrative:
Reported 11 NM northeast on runway 6/24 extended centerline inbound. Tower advised call 2 northeast for landing. ATIS advised runway 24 active, however runway 6 ILS practices were in progress. No mention of any aircraft on runway 24 approach was made. No instructions to remain north of 24 approach course was made. Inbound course (LORAN) just happened to be 240 degree. Radio volume of communications prohibited a call at 2 mi. Call made at 1 mi. Just then call from an small transport advised, 'an aircraft just cut in front of us'. Small transport was on approach to 24 behind us. We had already started a right turn for approach to the helicopter area. Though we were aware of runway 24 as being the active, the only traffic we were aware of was practicing 6 ILS's. No mention of any 24 traffic was made. No instructions to remain north of approach course was made. This information was relayed to the tower by phone, moments later. The tower had asked us if in fact he had given instructions to remain north (since he did not recall), we advised him, no.
