Narrative:
While on final and cleared to land to runway 21 at goodyear airport (gyr) my copilot was at the controls and he noticed an aircraft small aircraft above us who was in a descending turn and turning to also land on runway 21. Our separation I estimate to be between 50-75'. We immediately lowered the collective to increase our descent rate and then once we felt our rotor system was clear of the other aircraft we banked left to get more separation. At about that time the tower noticed and advised the small aircraft to go around. I do recall the tower operator advising the other aircraft earlier that they were '#2 to follow the helicopter (us) on final for 21'. I do not believe the small aircraft was ever able to see us during his turn from base to final. Later we were advised that a non english speaking student and his instructor were flying the small aircraft. A report was filed with the FAA and my military unit.

Title: HELICOPTER ASSIGNED #1 FOR LNDG, SMA #2. HAD NMAC ON TURN FROM BASE TO FINAL.
Narrative: WHILE ON FINAL AND CLRED TO LAND TO RWY 21 AT GOODYEAR ARPT (GYR) MY COPLT WAS AT THE CONTROLS AND HE NOTICED AN ACFT SMA ABOVE US WHO WAS IN A DESCENDING TURN AND TURNING TO ALSO LAND ON RWY 21. OUR SEPARATION I ESTIMATE TO BE BETWEEN 50-75'. WE IMMEDIATELY LOWERED THE COLLECTIVE TO INCREASE OUR DSCNT RATE AND THEN ONCE WE FELT OUR ROTOR SYSTEM WAS CLEAR OF THE OTHER ACFT WE BANKED LEFT TO GET MORE SEPARATION. AT ABOUT THAT TIME THE TWR NOTICED AND ADVISED THE SMA TO GO AROUND. I DO RECALL THE TWR OPERATOR ADVISING THE OTHER ACFT EARLIER THAT THEY WERE '#2 TO FOLLOW THE HELI (US) ON FINAL FOR 21'. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE SMA WAS EVER ABLE TO SEE US DURING HIS TURN FROM BASE TO FINAL. LATER WE WERE ADVISED THAT A NON ENGLISH SPEAKING STUDENT AND HIS INSTRUCTOR WERE FLYING THE SMA. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE FAA AND MY MIL UNIT.
