Narrative:
During slat retraction after takeoff sfo a short vibration was felt. A cabin attendant reported a wire or cable trailing from the right wing. Inspection by the second officer revealed that the #7 or outboard leading edge slat was missing. The aircraft was landed at lax using 35 degree flaps, slats retracted. No recommendations. Supplemental information from acn 115962: at slat retract speed (approximately 230 KTS), first officer called for slat retract which captain accomplished. We felt a vibration of short duration and then smooth flight. (This occurred at 4000' MSL.)
