Narrative:
Received descent to cross tonto intersection at 10,000', 250 KTS indicated. Center called us as we were 6 mi before crossing tonto and asked us our altitude. We replied '10,700'. Center advised we were only cleared to 12,000'. I replied that I read back clearance as 'descent to cross tonto at 10,000', 250 KTS indicated'. Center then replied 'sorry my mistake'.
