Narrative:
2 unsafe events occurred while en route from den to jfk. The first occurred while being vectored by approach into jfk. After extensive vectoring, approach control vectored us away from a course that would intercept the final approach course. We were headed about a 60 degree angle away from the airport. After we were well out of sight of the airport and heading away from it, we were cleared for a visual approach. When I told him our heading, he gave us another heading back toward the airport and said to let him know when we saw it. After 4 or 5 miles we saw it again and landed visually at jfk. I think approach control completely forgot about us. We were headed over the ocean nearly to the jersey shore, at 1500' AGL, during the off course vector.

Narrative: 2 UNSAFE EVENTS OCCURRED WHILE ENRTE FROM DEN TO JFK. THE FIRST OCCURRED WHILE BEING VECTORED BY APCH INTO JFK. AFTER EXTENSIVE VECTORING, APCH CTL VECTORED US AWAY FROM A COURSE THAT WOULD INTERCEPT THE FINAL APCH COURSE. WE WERE HEADED ABOUT A 60 DEG ANGLE AWAY FROM THE ARPT. AFTER WE WERE WELL OUT OF SIGHT OF THE ARPT AND HDG AWAY FROM IT, WE WERE CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH. WHEN I TOLD HIM OUR HDG, HE GAVE US ANOTHER HDG BACK TOWARD THE ARPT AND SAID TO LET HIM KNOW WHEN WE SAW IT. AFTER 4 OR 5 MILES WE SAW IT AGAIN AND LANDED VISUALLY AT JFK. I THINK APCH CTL COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT US. WE WERE HEADED OVER THE OCEAN NEARLY TO THE JERSEY SHORE, AT 1500' AGL, DURING THE OFF COURSE VECTOR.
