Narrative:
On jul/mon/89, I began flying at xa, flying approximately 3 hours in a fixed gear aircraft, an small aircraft X, at approximately xb. I switched to an small aircraft Y, a retractable gear aircraft, for a flight from haines to skagway. I was alone in the aircraft for this flight. Out of hns, I raised my landing gear shortly after takeoff. Approximately 3 min later, I called skagway traffic at taiya point with my altitude and intentions. 3 or 4 mins later, I passed burrow creek, the checkpoint where I normally go through my landing checklist when flying the small aircraft. As usual, at borrow creek I reduced speed, lowered my flaps and landing gear. Upon reaching the touchdown area in skagway approach 1 min later I realized that my landing gear was not in the down and locked position. I immediately throttled up and pulled away from the runway. As I did so, both propellers touched the runway briefly. I did a go around, checked and lowered my gear once again, and then landed at skagway without any problems. Neither the aircraft nor the airframe was damaged and was flown to jnu on an FAA ferry permit with only slightly bent propeller tips.

Title: REPORTER FAILED TO EXTEND LNDG GEAR AND NEARLY TOUCHED DOWN HOWEVER EXECUTED GO AROUND AT LAST MOMENT AS ENGINE PROPELLERS BEGAN TO SCRAPE ON RWY.
Narrative: ON JUL/MON/89, I BEGAN FLYING AT XA, FLYING APPROX 3 HRS IN A FIXED GEAR ACFT, AN SMA X, AT APPROX XB. I SWITCHED TO AN SMA Y, A RETRACTABLE GEAR ACFT, FOR A FLT FROM HAINES TO SKAGWAY. I WAS ALONE IN THE ACFT FOR THIS FLT. OUT OF HNS, I RAISED MY LNDG GEAR SHORTLY AFTER TKOF. APPROX 3 MIN LATER, I CALLED SKAGWAY TFC AT TAIYA POINT WITH MY ALT AND INTENTIONS. 3 OR 4 MINS LATER, I PASSED BURROW CREEK, THE CHECKPOINT WHERE I NORMALLY GO THROUGH MY LNDG CHECKLIST WHEN FLYING THE SMA. AS USUAL, AT BORROW CREEK I REDUCED SPEED, LOWERED MY FLAPS AND LNDG GEAR. UPON REACHING THE TOUCHDOWN AREA IN SKAGWAY APCH 1 MIN LATER I REALIZED THAT MY LNDG GEAR WAS NOT IN THE DOWN AND LOCKED POSITION. I IMMEDIATELY THROTTLED UP AND PULLED AWAY FROM THE RWY. AS I DID SO, BOTH PROPS TOUCHED THE RWY BRIEFLY. I DID A GO AROUND, CHECKED AND LOWERED MY GEAR ONCE AGAIN, AND THEN LANDED AT SKAGWAY WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. NEITHER THE ACFT NOR THE AIRFRAME WAS DAMAGED AND WAS FLOWN TO JNU ON AN FAA FERRY PERMIT WITH ONLY SLIGHTLY BENT PROP TIPS.
