Narrative:

The problem arose when I was asked by the control tower if I could turn to a heading of 180 degree prior to the control tower after departing runway 12R. As PIC I was under the impression I would have no problem clearing the tower prior to turning to 180 degree. There was another aircraft landing on runway 21. The tower was trying to give me an option to hold for traffic. Because of being at gross weight and density altitude, I had difficulty clearing the tower. To keep from stalling the aircraft I maintained a low altitude and constant airspeed until I was in a confign to climb to a higher altitude. Because of the conditions at hand, I passed north of the tower at the same altitude with approximately 200' horizontal separation. I believe the controller gave me that option because he thought I would have no problem. Because I was given the option of taking off at that time, I did not give myself the chance to think about the consequences. I took action before I had time to think about it, therefore, not leaving myself with an alternative plan of action. I made a careless judgement call. In a situation similar to this in the future I will wait. The mistake I made was letting another help my decision which I will never do again. I was also trying to maintain an on-time schedule.

Title: A DEPARTING SMA DID NOT COMMENCE TURN AFTER TKOF AS INSTRUCTED AND CAME IN CLOSE PROX TO A LNDG ACFT OPPOSITE DIRECTION.

Narrative: THE PROBLEM AROSE WHEN I WAS ASKED BY THE CTL TWR IF I COULD TURN TO A HDG OF 180 DEG PRIOR TO THE CTL TWR AFTER DEPARTING RWY 12R. AS PIC I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM CLEARING THE TWR PRIOR TO TURNING TO 180 DEG. THERE WAS ANOTHER ACFT LNDG ON RWY 21. THE TWR WAS TRYING TO GIVE ME AN OPTION TO HOLD FOR TFC. BECAUSE OF BEING AT GROSS WEIGHT AND DENSITY ALT, I HAD DIFFICULTY CLEARING THE TWR. TO KEEP FROM STALLING THE ACFT I MAINTAINED A LOW ALT AND CONSTANT AIRSPEED UNTIL I WAS IN A CONFIGN TO CLIMB TO A HIGHER ALT. BECAUSE OF THE CONDITIONS AT HAND, I PASSED N OF THE TWR AT THE SAME ALT WITH APPROX 200' HORIZ SEPARATION. I BELIEVE THE CTLR GAVE ME THAT OPTION BECAUSE HE THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM.
