Narrative:
At weavr intersection, very erratic VOR reception to make turn on J121 south. Thunderstorms in area--poor communication with center (congestion/broken). Also looking at chart hi 5 us very difficult to determine if J121 south is off ott or orf! Ended up slightly off course and did get hold of center. He advised no conflict! Chart at weavr intersection too clustered with information! Supplemental information from acn 117799: cleared cofield cvi to intercept J121 at weavr intersection.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR FLT CREW REPORTS DIFFICULTY IN INTERPRETATION OF RADIALS USED FOR DESIGNATED FIX DUE TO CHART'S PRESENTATION. EXPERIENCED A DEVIATION IN COURSE WHILE TRYING TO FIGURE THE PROPER STATION RADIAL RELATIONSHIP. PROBLEM IS RELATIVE TO J121 FROM ORF, 226 DEGREE RADIAL. IS IT FROM ORF OR OTT ON US HI5? INTERSECTION 'WEAVR' IS NOT ON US HI8.
Narrative: AT WEAVR INTXN, VERY ERRATIC VOR RECEPTION TO MAKE TURN ON J121 S. TSTMS IN AREA--POOR COM WITH CENTER (CONGESTION/BROKEN). ALSO LOOKING AT CHART HI 5 US VERY DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE IF J121 S IS OFF OTT OR ORF! ENDED UP SLIGHTLY OFF COURSE AND DID GET HOLD OF CENTER. HE ADVISED NO CONFLICT! CHART AT WEAVR INTXN TOO CLUSTERED WITH INFO! SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 117799: CLRED COFIELD CVI TO INTERCEPT J121 AT WEAVR INTXN.
