Narrative:
I landed at oakland runway 27L and taxied off on hotel towards runway 27R. I was told by tower to hold short of runway 27R as I was leaving runway 27L. When I got to the hold line at runway 27R, I paused for a minute or so and told the tower I was holding short. The tower said 'continue'. I checked for planes on final, and saw an small aircraft on 1/4 to 1/2 mi final. Even though the phrasing was nonstandard, I saw I had enough room to safely cross, and I crossed. The controller became upset with me and said he meant for me to continue 'holding short'. I called the tower later to clear things up, and the supervisor said it was the controller who made the error. However, I should have been alert to the nonstandard phraseology which I usually am. The small aircraft touched down just after I crossed the hold line, actually as I was crossing it.

Title: A CLRNC WAS MISINTERPRETED RESULTING IN AN ACFT CROSSING AN ACTIVE RWY WITH AN SMA ON SHORT FINAL. NO LOSS OF SEPARATION OCCURRED.

WHEN I GOT TO THE HOLD LINE AT RWY 27R, I PAUSED FOR A MINUTE OR SO AND TOLD THE TWR I WAS HOLDING SHORT. THE TWR SAID 'CONTINUE'. I CHECKED FOR PLANES ON FINAL, AND SAW AN SMA ON 1/4 TO 1/2 MI FINAL. EVEN THOUGH THE PHRASING WAS NONSTANDARD, I SAW I HAD ENOUGH ROOM TO SAFELY CROSS, AND I CROSSED. THE CTLR BECAME UPSET WITH ME AND SAID HE MEANT FOR ME TO CONTINUE 'HOLDING SHORT'. I CALLED THE TWR LATER TO CLEAR THINGS UP, AND THE SUPVR SAID IT WAS THE CTLR WHO MADE THE ERROR. HOWEVER, I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALERT TO THE NONSTANDARD PHRASEOLOGY WHICH I USUALLY AM. THE SMA TOUCHED DOWN JUST AFTER I CROSSED THE HOLD LINE, ACTUALLY AS I WAS XING IT.
