Narrative:

I am a controller at tpa ATC tower. I cleared an medium large transport to land. I cleared an small transport for takeoff on an intersecting runway. When the small transport crossed the intersection, the medium large transport was about 4000' from the intersection on landing roll. When I saw the situation developing, I tried to cancel the small transport's takeoff clearance, but he was slow in responding so I told him to expedite across the intersection. I knew that this was less than standard separation but in my opinion this was better than telling him to abort again because he was close to the intersection and that would make a bad situation worse.
