Aircraft altitude about 1000' while in turn and continuing climb to 5000', departure control called traffic at about 10 O'clock, 1 mi altitude unk. We were passing about 170 degree heading and 2000 to 2500' MSL. A small float plane passed over our aircraft and slightly behind, missing us by what appeared to be only a few hundred feet.
