Narrative:
Tower requested a report 2 mi out on left base for 27L, this was complied with. After turning final, the pilot flying suddenly pointed to an small aircraft Y on a converging flight path coming from our right. The small aircraft was in a right turn approximately 1/2 mi away and closing fast. As the pilot was pointing out the traffic to me, he initiated a hard right turn to pass behind that aircraft. We missed by 1/8-1/4 mi with maybe 100' of altitude separation. Our passenger (4) were very quiet. The tower claims to have advised us of traffic using the parallel runway (27R). We do not recall this nor did we acknowledge this.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: NMAC BETWEEN CORPORATE TURBOPROP AND LIGHT TWIN ENGINE ACFT ON APCHES TO PARALLEL RWYS.
Narrative: TWR REQUESTED A REPORT 2 MI OUT ON LEFT BASE FOR 27L, THIS WAS COMPLIED WITH. AFTER TURNING FINAL, THE PLT FLYING SUDDENLY POINTED TO AN SMA Y ON A CONVERGING FLT PATH COMING FROM OUR RIGHT. THE SMA WAS IN A RIGHT TURN APPROX 1/2 MI AWAY AND CLOSING FAST. AS THE PLT WAS POINTING OUT THE TFC TO ME, HE INITIATED A HARD RIGHT TURN TO PASS BEHIND THAT ACFT. WE MISSED BY 1/8-1/4 MI WITH MAYBE 100' OF ALT SEPARATION. OUR PAX (4) WERE VERY QUIET. THE TWR CLAIMS TO HAVE ADVISED US OF TFC USING THE PARALLEL RWY (27R). WE DO NOT RECALL THIS NOR DID WE ACKNOWLEDGE THIS.
