Narrative:
On jul/tue/89, we were on a visual approach to day at XA30 am. The WX was VFR, but hazy. We had the approach end of the runway in sight and as we turned final the visibility dropped with the sun on our nose. During the rollout the visibility improved and at that time we could see about 15 hot air balloons over and around the departure end of the runway, at varying altitudes. At no time did the tower say anything about the balloons. I don't know if the tower or the air show controllers were in charge of the operation, but we should have been warned. This action set up an extremely dangerous situation if we had to go around. If we didn't crash into the balloons, our wake might have destroyed some. The tower should have advised us about the balloons. We would probably have taken the parallel runway instead. When we questioned the controller, all he said was, he would add it to the ATIS. Not good enough.
