Narrative:
Passing approx 5000 [feet] we broke out of the clouds. I turned off the eng anti-ice. About 1000 feet later we felt the aircraft yaw and got an ECAM for eng stall. It cleared itself and then happened again about 10 seconds later. We performed the checklist; declared an emergency; spoke to dispatch and [maintenance] and the flight attendants. Diverted back to [departure airport] uneventfully.
