Narrative:
After takeoff, we received clearance to 10000', direct to mfd as filed. We proceeded via V5 to ape. Just north of ape, it came to our attention that we never received a handoff to ZOB from departure. After noticing the frequency on our primary communication radio as the cle departure frequency, we asked cle departure to verify our frequency. We received no reply and contacted cmh approach. They informed us that they had tried to reach us several times. It is the crew's believe that we never received a handoff from cle departure.
