Narrative:

We climbed to 14500' for 20 mins for smooth ride above range of mountains at 10500'. During descent out of 14500', 1 passenger requested O2. Copilot gave passenger mask and looked back to check O2 hook-up. It was connected correctly and O2 flow was confirmed. A few mins later another passenger asked copilot to check on passenger taking O2, which pilot did. O2 passenger stated that the mask was working and copilot again confirmed proper O2 use. O2 passenger had been drinking alcohol and was airsick. We descended to 8500' and continued the flight. Upon landing, a passenger complained that we had not properly briefed them on the use of O2. We tried to explain that we had checked the mask, that it was working, and the passenger using the O2 understood how to use it. He remained very upset and will probably complain about the flight to the FAA. Passenger briefing prior to the flight did not include use of O2 because we did not plan to spend over 30 mins above 12000'. Due to turbulence, we did go over 30 mins. No amount of cajoling and apologizing could convince the irate passenger that we had not conducted an illegal operation. In the future, we will include O2 briefings whenever the remote possibility of O2 use exists. The complaint was not familiar with this type of O2 mask, and thought the rebreather portion should remain inflated constantly, not on demand, which is the type of mask we are equipped with.

Title: ATX FLT CREW FAILED TO MAKE THE REQUIRED O2 BRIEFING PRIOR TO TKOF.

Narrative: WE CLBED TO 14500' FOR 20 MINS FOR SMOOTH RIDE ABOVE RANGE OF MOUNTAINS AT 10500'. DURING DSCNT OUT OF 14500', 1 PAX REQUESTED O2. COPLT GAVE PAX MASK AND LOOKED BACK TO CHK O2 HOOK-UP. IT WAS CONNECTED CORRECTLY AND O2 FLOW WAS CONFIRMED. A FEW MINS LATER ANOTHER PAX ASKED COPLT TO CHK ON PAX TAKING O2, WHICH PLT DID. O2 PAX STATED THAT THE MASK WAS WORKING AND COPLT AGAIN CONFIRMED PROPER O2 USE. O2 PAX HAD BEEN DRINKING ALCOHOL AND WAS AIRSICK. WE DSNDED TO 8500' AND CONTINUED THE FLT. UPON LNDG, A PAX COMPLAINED THAT WE HAD NOT PROPERLY BRIEFED THEM ON THE USE OF O2. WE TRIED TO EXPLAIN THAT WE HAD CHKED THE MASK, THAT IT WAS WORKING, AND THE PAX USING THE O2 UNDERSTOOD HOW TO USE IT. HE REMAINED VERY UPSET AND WILL PROBABLY COMPLAIN ABOUT THE FLT TO THE FAA. PAX BRIEFING PRIOR TO THE FLT DID NOT INCLUDE USE OF O2 BECAUSE WE DID NOT PLAN TO SPEND OVER 30 MINS ABOVE 12000'. DUE TO TURB, WE DID GO OVER 30 MINS. NO AMOUNT OF CAJOLING AND APOLOGIZING COULD CONVINCE THE IRATE PAX THAT WE HAD NOT CONDUCTED AN ILLEGAL OPERATION.
