Narrative:
Air carrier X was cleared to land on runway 4L. Air carrier Y called and was advised he was faster than traffic ahead and to begin a speed reduction. Air carrier X landed and was told to clear at high speed taxiway Q, and continue well clear of the runway. Air carrier X was clearing the runway at high speed taxiway Q as air carrier Y was approaching the threshold. Air carrier X continued toward taxiway M, and based on my anticipation of air carrier X being clear of the runway, air carrier Y was permitted to land. It was felt by another controller that a sep error had taken place, but in fact it had not.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR WAS TURNING OFF THE RWY AS A SECOND ACR WAS OVER THE THRESHOLD.
Narrative: ACR X WAS CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 4L. ACR Y CALLED AND WAS ADVISED HE WAS FASTER THAN TFC AHEAD AND TO BEGIN A SPD REDUCTION. ACR X LANDED AND WAS TOLD TO CLR AT HIGH SPD TXWY Q, AND CONTINUE WELL CLR OF THE RWY. ACR X WAS CLRING THE RWY AT HIGH SPD TXWY Q AS ACR Y WAS APCHING THE THRESHOLD. ACR X CONTINUED TOWARD TXWY M, AND BASED ON MY ANTICIPATION OF ACR X BEING CLR OF THE RWY, ACR Y WAS PERMITTED TO LAND. IT WAS FELT BY ANOTHER CTLR THAT A SEP ERROR HAD TAKEN PLACE, BUT IN FACT IT HAD NOT.
